Clinton roads hit your suspension from two directions. Every winter, freeze-thaw cycles tear open potholes and frost heaves on Route 1 and I-95. At the same time, salt moisture off Long Island Sound and liquid magnesium chloride coat your undercarriage and go to work on every metal part.
At SJ Shop, we see the results every week. Rusted coil springs. Leaking strut seals. Loose ball joints and tie rod ends. Cars that wander on the highway or bounce long after a bump. We know what shoreline driving does to a vehicle, and we know how to fix it right.
Our team handles suspension repair in Clinton, CT, from a single sway bar link to full shock and strut replacement. We show you what we find before we replace anything. If a part still has life left, we tell you.
You get straight talk and fair pricing. No scare tactics. No padded estimates.
Here’s what you get out of it. Shorter stopping distances. Steady handling at highway speed. Tires that wear evenly instead of cupping out early. A quieter, smoother ride on every trip through Middlesex County. That’s real value, and it keeps you and your family safer.

Brought my Jaguar here to have full body PPF installed and their work is truly exceptional! The owner Chris was very courteous and Dylan who I worked with during the process was also extremely patient and informative. I went through the entire vehicle after bringing it home and couldn’t not find anything to complain about. Truly a flawless execution. I highly recommend SJ shop for all your needs!

I waited almost a week before writing this comment. The car came out absolutely beautiful. Extremely well done detail. Almost perfect 90%. I had the rims reconditioned. They came out beautiful. I had a flat tire next day. I have no idea where that was because of the rims coming off the car or not I highly recommend the shop. If you want your car detailed professionally, it is pricey that is the only reason it did not receive a five star.

Second time I've trusted a vehicle with them and they didn't disappoint. Their shop is remarkable and they are super efficient and meticulous. PPF and ceramic for my McLaren and it's shining. Highly recommended.

Guilford’s potholes and road salt don’t wait. Neither should your suspension. Get a free quote from SJ Shop CT — fully inspected, correctly diagnosed, and aligned after every repair.
We don’t guess at suspension problems. We follow a four-step process that finds the real cause and fixes it properly.
It starts with a coastal vehicle undercarriage rust inspection. We check coil springs, struts, control arms, and bushings for salt corrosion, stress cracks, and fluid leaks. You see what we see.
Next, we replace what’s worn. Damaged shocks, struts, sway bar links, and tie rod ends come out. Heavy-duty, corrosion-resistant OEM-grade parts go in, built to stand up to another Clinton winter.
Then comes the alignment. Our computerized wheel alignment and steering repair resets toe, camber, and caster to factory specs. That ends the drift and pull that pothole hits leave behind. Drivers across Middlesex County rely on it to protect their tires.
Finally, we road test every vehicle. We drive it over real local pavement to confirm smooth damping, sharp turn-in, and no clunks or rattles.
Whether you need shock and strut replacement on Boston Post Road or rough ride and pothole damage repair after a hit near I-95 Exit 63, the process stays the same. You get your car back on time, and it drives the way it should.
A Kelseytown family brought in their SUV with a loud clunk over every bump. Our undercarriage inspection found a snapped rear coil spring, rusted through from years of road salt, and a leaking strut. We replaced both rear springs and struts with corrosion-resistant parts, then completed a full alignment. The clunk is gone, and the SUV sits level again.
A Harbor View commuter hit a frost heave on I-95 near Exit 63, and her sedan started pulling left. Her front tires were already showing uneven wear. We found a bent tie rod end and a worn lower ball joint. After replacing both and resetting the alignment, the steering wheel sits straight and the pull is gone.

Watch for pulling to one side, an off-center steering wheel, new clunks, extra bouncing, or uneven tire wear. Any of these after a hard hit means it’s time for a suspension and alignment check.
Yes. Salt moisture and magnesium chloride break down protective coatings and eat into bare steel. Over several winters, coil springs can snap and control arms can weaken. Regular undercarriage washes and inspections catch it early.
Bouncing usually points to worn shocks or struts that can’t control spring movement. Pulling often means the impact knocked your alignment out or bent a steering part. Both affect braking and tire life, so get it checked soon.
Once a year is a good baseline on shoreline roads. Also get one after any hard pothole hit, when you replace suspension parts, or when you install new tires. Spring, after pothole season, is ideal timing.
Yes. Constant salt air near the water speeds up corrosion on springs, bolts, and mounts. We recommend an undercarriage rust inspection every fall before winter, and again in spring to catch damage from salt and potholes.
