Living on Long Island Sound means your paint fights a battle every day. Constant coastal salt spray and high humidity off Clinton Harbor bake brackish mist onto clear coats in the summer sun, etching minerals permanently into the finish. Then winter hits, and heavy marine-layer moisture combines with magnesium chloride road salts along I-95 and Boston Post Road, aggressively rusting undercarriages and breaking down whatever protection was left.
Unprotected paint doesn’t survive this environment for long. Salt etching, clear coat failure, and rust corrosion all chip away at resale value across Middlesex County, especially on vehicles that spend real time near Cedar Island or the Hammonasset Beach State Park perimeter.
SJ Shop CT is a certified STEK ceramic installer working in a climate-controlled bay, with multi-stage paint prep expertise and official STEK manufacturer warranty backing on every job. Brought my Jaguar here to have full body PPF installed and their work is truly exceptional! The owner Chris was very courteous and Dylan who I worked with during the process was also extremely patient and informative. I went through the entire vehicle after bringing it home and couldn’t not find anything to complain about. Truly a flawless execution. I highly recommend SJ shop for all your needs!

I waited almost a week before writing this comment. The car came out absolutely beautiful. Extremely well done detail. Almost perfect 90%. I had the rims reconditioned. They came out beautiful. I had a flat tire next day. I have no idea where that was because of the rims coming off the car or not I highly recommend the shop. If you want your car detailed professionally, it is pricey that is the only reason it did not receive a five star.

Second time I've trusted a vehicle with them and they didn't disappoint. Their shop is remarkable and they are super efficient and meticulous. PPF and ceramic for my McLaren and it's shining. Highly recommended.

Guilford’s salt air and hard water don’t stop etching between washes. SJ Shop CT applies STEK ceramic coating with full paint correction first — hydrophobic, UV-resistant, and built for Connecticut shoreline conditions. Get a free quote today.
A STEK coating bonds only as well as the surface underneath it. SJ Shop CT starts every job with a pH-neutral wash and salt/iron chemical decontamination, stripping embedded marine pollutants, rail dust, and salt deposits using pH-balanced shampoos and clay bar treatment. Skipping this step is how coatings fail early near the coast.
Next comes multi-stage precision paint correction, machine polishing to eliminate swirl marks, micro-scratches, and water etching, restoring maximum gloss before any coating gets applied. We then wipe panels down to bare clear coat with isopropyl alcohol and hand-level STEK ceramic coating in cross-hatch sections, ensuring proper cross-linked chemical bonding across every panel.
We finish with controlled bay curing, using IR lamp assistance in a temperature-monitored environment to set maximum gloss, slickness, and multi-year durability. That full four-stage process, from decontamination through cured inspection, is why our paint correction and ceramic protection Middlesex County installs hold up against constant salt exposure instead of breaking down within a season like off-the-shelf coatings often do.
A boat owner who regularly parked near Clinton Harbor was seeing early salt etching on factory clear coat. We ran full paint correction to remove existing damage, then applied STEK ceramic coating cured under IR lamps in our controlled bay. The vehicle now sheds marine mist and salt spray during routine washes.
A daily commuter driving Route 1 and I-95 through Clinton winters wanted protection against road brine and de-icing salt. We applied STEK ceramic coating after multi-stage decontamination and correction, giving the paint a hydrophobic barrier that resists salt buildup and simplifies winter washing throughout the season.

SJ Shop CT’s STEK ceramic coating creates a chemically bonded barrier that resists salt mist etching, oxidation, and marine humidity damage, keeping clear coat protected along Long Island Sound.
Usually yes. Even new vehicles often show swirl marks or minor etching. Correction restores a smooth surface so the STEK coating bonds evenly and delivers maximum gloss.
STEK ceramic coating offers far superior hydrophobic protection and chemical resistance against salt air and road brine than wax, which breaks down quickly in coastal humidity.
Yes. STEK’s chemical resistance matrix defends against harsh de-icing chemicals and acidic salt air, helping prevent the corrosion and clear coat breakdown common in Connecticut winters.
Yes. Documented STEK installations help maintain paint condition and gloss over time, supporting stronger trade-in and resale value for vehicles driven along Route 1 and I-95.
